I have been teaching for 14 years. I love what I do. I am also a painter, mother, animal lover, avid reader and runner. I am an active member of The Art Education Association in Iowa and have attended and presented at many conferences, as well as being recognized as K-12 Art teacher of the year several years ago when I was still teaching in Missouri. As an art teacher how I graded my students was always a big grey area, as well as how I measured their learning. The standards based grading system appealed to me and might be the first clear form for grading for art that really works to assess students skills and growth.
